For restaurant owners
Restaurant Background Music, Done Right
Most dining rooms make one decision about music and live with it all day. We think the day deserves four. Here is how our system works, and how to get it into your room this week.
The system
One day, four rooms
A dining room at eight in the morning is not the same room at eight at night. The light, the crowd, the pace and the reason people came are all different — so the music changes with them.
Breakfast
7:00 – 11:00Morning ragas, sparse and unhurried. Music that lets a room wake up rather than announcing itself.
Lunch
11:00 – 3:00A little more pulse. Guests are on the clock; the music keeps the room moving without hurrying anyone.
Dinner
6:00 – 10:00The longest, warmest stretch. Sitar, sarod, tabla and candlelight — the hour people book a table for.
Late night
10:00 – closeLong tones, wide space. The last hour belongs to the staff as much as to the guests.
Why not a generic playlist
What a streaming shuffle cannot do for your room
It knows the hour
Our catalogue is organised by time of day, not by mood tag. Breakfast material is thinner and quieter; dinner material is fuller and warmer. Nothing arrives in the wrong hour.
It is all original
Every track is made by the house, so there is no third-party rights holder to satisfy and no advertisement between two courses.
It is one voice
A shuffled playlist changes character every four minutes. Ours holds a single weekly palette, so a room sounds like itself from open to close.

Questions
Frequently asked
- Is it really free to play in my restaurant?
- Yes. Our music is free to play during service with attribution — a small credit card on the table or counter, or a line on your menu naming Indian Restaurant Music. That is the whole arrangement.
- Do I need a licence or a subscription?
- Not for our catalogue. Everything we publish is original music made by the house, so there is no third-party rights holder to satisfy. If your local rules require paperwork, write to us and we will send a written permission letter.
- How do I play it during service?
- Most kitchens run it from a tablet or laptop on our YouTube channel, one playlist per part of the day. From September you will also be able to run it from the major streaming services.
- Can you match the music to my particular room?
- That is our favourite request. Tell us your service hours, your seating, and the mood you want at each stage of the day, and we will set a day arc for your dining room specifically.
- What will Pro include?
- Ad-free continuous playback, offline files for unreliable connections, seasonal palettes, and a scheduled day arc that changes hour by hour without anyone touching a screen. Coming soon.
